Tips for Making Sister Slaw

  • Choose the right cabbage. Green cabbage is the most common type of cabbage used in sister slaw, but you can also use red cabbage or a combination of both. Green cabbage will give you a more traditional slaw, while red cabbage will add a pop of color and a slightly different flavor.
  • Shred the cabbage finely. This will help the slaw to absorb the dressing and make it easier to eat.
  • Use a variety of vegetables. In addition to cabbage, sister slaw often includes other vegetables such as carrots, celery, and onion. You can also add other vegetables that you like, such as bell pepper, cucumber, or radish.
  • Make the dressing ahead of time. This will allow the flavors to meld and develop. You can store the dressing in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • Toss the slaw just before serving. This will help to prevent the slaw from becoming watery.

Conclusion

Sister slaw is a delicious and refreshing side dish that is perfect for potlucks, picnics, and other gatherings. It is also a great way to use up leftover cabbage. With its crunchy texture and tangy dressing, sister slaw is sure to be a hit with everyone at your table.
