3 pounds beef roast (I like Sirloin tip)
Pepper to taste
1 envelope dry onion soup mix
1 10.5 ounce can cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup water

Steps:

  • Brown meat in a small amount of oil on all sides. Sprinkle with pepper and place in a 6 quart Crock pot.
  • Dump the onion soup mix on top, then add the mushroom soup.
  • Add the water to the pan you browned the meat in and use a whisk to get up all the drippings. Pour over the top of everything in the crock pot.
  • Cook on High for 4-5 hours or Low for 8-10 hours. Serve with mashed potatoes.

1 2-3 lb. roast of choice (like chuck or sirloin)
1 Tbsp Kitchen Bouquet*
3/4 c beef broth
1 can(s) cream of mushroom soup, 10.5 oz.
1 pkg onion soup mix
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp red wine vinegar
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1/4 tsp black pepper
2 Tbsp butter
2 Tbsp all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • 1. In a medium bowl, combine broth, mushroom soup, onion soup mix, Worcestershire, red wine vinegar, garlic, thyme, and pepper. Stir to mix well and set aside.
  • 2. Rub Kitchen Bouquet over the roast, coating all sides. Heat a little oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown both sides of the roast (you'll know it's ready to flip when the meat no longer sticks). Transfer to the Crock Pot.
  • 3. Reduce heat to medium and add butter to skillet. When melted add flour. Cook for a minute, stirring with a whisk.
  • 4. Add gravy from bowl to skillet. Using a whisk, loosen up brown bits from the bottom of the skillet.
  • 5. Continue to cook until thickened.
  • 6. Pour gravy over roast. Cover and cook on LOW for 7-8 hours, or until roast is fall-apart tender.
  • 7. Serve over buttered egg noodles. Enjoy! *Kitchen Bouquet is a browning/seasoning sauce that helps to add color and a little flavor to meats and gravy. You can usually find it in the grocery with the Worcestershire sauce.

3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

2 teaspoons ground mustard
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 cup cold water

Steps:

  • Rub roast with garlic and pepper; place in a 3-qt. slow cooker. Mix soy sauce, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce and mustard; pour over roast. I bought a big roast at Costco, and threw this in the crock pot with some other ingredients, based loosely on some other recipes I've read here. I have never spent so little time on something that came out so good!

5 lbs sirloin tip roast
1 (1 ounce) package Italian salad dressing mix
2 -3 small onions, chopped
1 (10 1/2 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
2 tablespoons flour, diluted in
2 tablespoons water

Steps:

  • Put chopped onions on the bottom of the crock pot so the meat has something to rest on.
  • Put meat in the crock pot and rub the salad dressing powder all over it, turning to get all sides.
  • Open soup can and spread all over the roast with a butter knife.
  • Do NOT add any liquid to the crock pot!
  • Cook on high for two hours, then on low for another four, at least.
  • You don't want the roast to be falling apart, but you want it tender.
  • Remove the roast and put on a platter.
  • Cover with foil and let it rest in a warm place for about 20 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, add the diluted flour to the juices in the crock; turn the crock on high for 20 more minutes.
  • Stir frequently.
  • You can also make the gravy by adding the crock pot juices and flour mixture to a skillet over a med/high flame.
