DAD'S SIMPLE STEAK MARINADE

Dad's Simple Steak Marinade image

This recipe is one my father taught me. It is the simplest homemade marinade! Just 5 common ingredients! When used overnight, the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic make flank, skirt and sirloin steaks flavorful and, most importantly, tender for the grill! For more flavor, add Kosher salt and cracked black pepper to your steak while it cooks. Red wine vinegar or balsamic vinegar may be substituted for the red wine.

Tips:

  • Choose a steak that is at least 1 inch thick and has good marbling.
  • Use a sharp knife to score the steak all over, about 1/4 inch deep. This will help the marinade penetrate the meat.
  • Make sure the steak is completely coated in the marinade before refrigerating it. You can use a zip-top bag or a shallow dish for marinating.
  • Allow the steak to marinate for at least 30 minutes, but no longer than 24 hours. If you marinate the steak for too long, the vinegar can start to "cook" the meat.
  • When you're ready to cook the steak, remove it from the marinade and pat it dry. Don't rinse the steak, as this will remove the flavor of the marinade.
  • Cook the steak over medium-high heat until it is cooked to your desired doneness. If you're not sure how to check the doneness of a steak, use a meat thermometer.
  • Let the steak rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving. This will help the juices redistribute throughout the meat.

Conclusion:

Vinegar steak is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. The vinegar marinade tenderizes the steak and gives it a wonderful flavor. You can use any type of vinegar you like, but red wine vinegar or balsamic vinegar are both good choices. Serve vinegar steak with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a simple salad.
