SIMPLE PORK RIB DRY RUB

Simple Pork Rib Dry Rub image

I have used this simple rub to make ribs on the barbi in both Memphis, where I learned, and England, where I now live. The dry rub will stop the ribs from burning on the outside, as happens with some wet sauces. This rub is hot and sweet, which makes it perfect for ribs. The proportions of ingredients can be adjusted to taste. On two continents, I've received nothing but compliments for this recipe. I use this for approximately 2 kilograms ribs.

PORK RIB RUB

A delicious rub for baby back pork ribs! Makes enough rub for 6 racks of ribs. Ground rosemary is almost impossible to find in stores. I grind up dried rosemary leaves in a molcajete, with a mortar and pestle, or a clean coffee grinder. Trust me, it's worth the few extra minutes it takes!

BOBBY FLAY'S RIB RUB

Bobby Flay's Rib Rub image

Make and share this Bobby Flay's Rib Rub recipe from Food.com.

Provided by Eric R.

Categories     Pork

Time 10m

Yield 9 Tablespoons, 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 tablespoon cumin
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon granulated garlic
1 tablespoon granulated onion
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 tablespoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon white pepper

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix well. Store in an airtight container. Pack on the dry rub onto your next rack of ribs.

Tips:

  • Choose the right ribs: Baby back ribs are the most popular type of ribs for dry rubs, as they are meaty and have a good amount of fat.
  • Prepare the ribs: Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs to help the rub penetrate the meat. You can also trim off any excess fat.
  • Apply the rub: Be generous with the rub, and make sure to coat all sides of the ribs. You can use your hands or a brush to apply the rub.
  • Let the ribs rest: After applying the rub, let the ribs rest for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight. This will allow the flavors to meld.
  • Cook the ribs: You can cook the ribs in the oven, on the grill, or in a smoker. The cooking time will vary depending on the method you choose.
  • Baste the ribs: While the ribs are cooking, baste them with a mixture of apple cider vinegar, water, and brown sugar. This will help to keep the ribs moist and prevent them from drying out.
  • Let the ribs rest before serving: Once the ribs are cooked, let them rest for a few minutes before serving. This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.

Conclusion:

Dry rubs are a great way to add flavor to pork ribs. With a few simple ingredients, you can create a delicious and easy-to-make dry rub that will take your ribs to the next level. So next time you're looking for a delicious and easy way to cook pork ribs, give a dry rub a try. You won't be disappointed.
