SIMPLE CHOCOLATE CHAI TEA

Simple Chocolate Chai Tea image

I had this in a local coffee shop and became hooked. However, I couldn't always get there to have some, and it was a bit pricey, so I thought maybe I could duplicate it. This is the result and it's quite good, easy and cheap. I guessed on the size of the tea packets, really...they don't exactly label those! Note, chai teas usually contain a bit of caffeine.

Categories     Beverages

Time 5m

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 (1 ounce) packet hot chocolate powder
1 (1/4 ounce) packet chai tea
6 ounces hot water

Steps:

  • Boil water.
  • Pour 6 oz. water into mug along with 1 packet chai tea.
  • Let steep for a few minutes.
  • As much as possible, remove and squeeze out tea packet to get all the goodness.
  • Add chocolate mix packet.
  • Stir well and enjoy.

Tips:

  • Use good quality tea leaves: The type of tea leaves you use will greatly affect the flavor of your chai tea. Look for loose-leaf black tea that is specifically labeled as "chai" or "masala chai."
  • Grind your own spices: If possible, grind your own spices fresh for the best flavor. This will give your chai tea a more aromatic and flavorful taste.
  • Don't boil the tea: Boiling the tea will make it bitter. Instead, bring the tea to a simmer and then let it steep for 5-10 minutes.
  • Add milk and sweetener to taste: The amount of milk and sweetener you add to your chai tea is a matter of personal preference. Start with a small amount and add more to taste.
  • Garnish with spices: Garnish your chai tea with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon, cardamom, or nutmeg for an extra touch of flavor.

Conclusion:

Chai tea is a delicious and flavorful beverage that can be enjoyed hot or cold. It is a great way to warm up on a cold day or to relax and unwind after a long day. With its unique blend of spices, chai tea is a beverage that everyone can enjoy.
