Time 55m

Yield 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 (18 1/4 ounce) box spice cake mix
2 (21 ounce) cans apple pie filling
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground allspice
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
3/4 cup butter
1 cup chopped nuts

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Pour the apple pie filling into a 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
  • In a small bowl, mix together cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and sugar.
  • Sprinkle mixture over pie filling.
  • Pour dry cake mix over apples.
  • Dot with butter and sprinkle nuts on top.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes to one hour, until cake is brown on top and bubbling on the sides.
  • Serve warm with ice cream or whipped topping.

Tips:

  • Choose the right apples: For the best flavor and texture, use a firm, tart apple such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Braeburn.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing will result in a tough cake. Just mix until the ingredients are combined.
  • Use a 9x13 inch baking dish: This is the standard size for a dump cake, and it will ensure that the cake is not too thick or too thin.
  • Bake the cake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean: This usually takes about 45-50 minutes.
  • Let the cake cool before serving: This will allow the flavors to meld and the cake to firm up.

Conclusion:

This apple spice dump cake is an easy and delicious dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With its simple ingredients and minimal prep time, it's a great recipe for busy weeknights or casual gatherings. The combination of sweet apples, warm spices, and a moist, fluffy cake batter creates a truly irresistible treat.
