Categories     30 Minute Meals

Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
6-8 cloves of fresh garlic, minced
2 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon caper brine
1/4 cup chopped parsley
3 tablespoon butter, cut into cubes
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Heat a large skillet over high heat. Add the olive oil and red pepper flakes and allow the spice to infuse into the oil for 30 seconds.
  • Add the shrimp to the pan and spread it out so it cooks evenly. Cook for about 1 minute flipping as needed. Add the garlic, lemon juice, and caper brine to the skillet and let cook for 1 minute.
  • Add 1/2 of the parsley along with the cubes of butter and swirl the pan so butter starts to melt slowly, about 2-3 minutes. As the butter melts it should start forming a thick type of sauce. Add the remaining parsley and stir to combine. The shrimp should be opaque and cooked through. If the sauce starts to thicken too much, you can remove the shrimp to a serving dish and add a teaspoon of water to help thin it out to a pourable consistency. Keep in mind that this recipe creates just enough sauce to coat the shrimp but it is flavorful enough to serve with rice or pasta tossed in olive oil.

This is a very elegant dish good for a nice simple meal. Tasty and pretty enough for company, but my husband and I enjoy it as a nice weekend meal. The brining of the shrimp takes the longest, but is very easy and improves the taste and texture of the shrimp.

SHRIMP IN LEMON GARLIC CHILI SAUCE

Shrimp in Lemon Garlic Chili Sauce image

This is THE BEST shrimp recipe, I swear. This is "finger food" -- you'll peel and eat the shrimp at the table, so provide one or more bowls to discard the shells and have plenty of napkins on hand. You'll want to serve this with lots of crusty bread to sop up the absolutely amazing sauce. ENJOY! Note: prep time does not include time to marinate shrimp.

Provided by St. Louie Suzie

Categories     < 60 Mins

Time 45m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 15

2 lbs large unpeeled shrimp
2 lemons, sliced into 1/4-inch slices
8 ounces chili sauce (Heinz makes a good bottled sauce)
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup olive oil
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
4 garlic cloves, minced
3 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
2 teaspoons paprika
2 teaspoons oregano
2 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon pepper sauce (such as Tobasco or Franks Red Hot Sauce)
3 tablespoons liquid smoke
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Wash shrimp, spread out in 9" x 12" glass baking dish.
  • Combine all other ingredients in medium saucepan over low heat.
  • Pour sauce including cooked-down lemons over shrimp.
  • Refrigerate and turn shrimp every 30 minutes or so for several hours.
  • Bake at 300 degrees F for 30 minutes, turning shrimp at 10 minute intervals.
  • Serve in soup bowls with bread on the side to sop up the sauce.

Tips:

  • Use fresh shrimp. Fresh shrimp has a better flavor and texture than frozen shrimp. If you must use frozen shrimp, thaw it in cold water before cooking.
  • Clean the shrimp properly. Remove the head, shell, and tail from the shrimp. You can also devein the shrimp by making a shallow cut down the back of the shrimp and removing the black vein.
  • Use a large skillet or pan. This will allow the shrimp to cook evenly. Don't overcrowd the pan, or the shrimp will steam instead of fry.
  • Cook the shrimp over medium-high heat. This will help to sear the shrimp and prevent it from becoming tough.
  • Don't overcook the shrimp. Shrimp cooks quickly, so overcooking will make it tough and rubbery. Cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side, or until it is pink and opaque.
  • Use fresh lemon juice. Fresh lemon juice has a brighter flavor than bottled lemon juice. If you don't have fresh lemon juice, you can use bottled lemon juice, but be sure to use 100% lemon juice, not lemon-lime juice.
  • Use good quality olive oil. Extra virgin olive oil has a fruity flavor that will complement the shrimp. If you don't have extra virgin olive oil, you can use regular olive oil.
  • Season the shrimp with salt and pepper to taste. You can also add other seasonings, such as garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika.
  • Serve the shrimp immediately. Shrimp is best served immediately after it is cooked. You can serve it over rice, pasta, or vegetables.

Conclusion:

Shrimp in lemon garlic sauce is a quick and easy dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. It is also a healthy and delicious dish that is sure to please everyone at the table. With its bright citrus flavor and garlicky aroma, this dish is sure to become a favorite. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give shrimp in lemon garlic sauce a try. You won't be disappointed.
