¾ (16 ounce) package spaghetti
1 pound uncooked medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
salt and ground black pepper to taste
2 tablespoons finely chopped shallots
1 tablespoon crushed garlic
¼ cup chicken broth
1 medium lemon, zested and juiced
½ cup heavy cream
5 large basil leaves, chopped
1 pinch red pepper flakes

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook spaghetti in the boiling water, stirring occasionally, until tender yet firm to the bite, about 12 minutes.

Tips:

  • Fresh ingredients: For the best flavor, use fresh shrimp, basil, and cream.
  • Cook the shrimp properly: Shrimp cooks quickly, so be careful not to overcook it. Cook it until it is just opaque and pink.
  • Make sure the sauce is thick enough: The sauce should be thick enough to coat the shrimp and pasta. If it is too thin, add a little more flour or cornstarch.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs: Fresh basil or parsley adds a nice finishing touch to the dish.

Conclusion:

Shrimp and pasta in a basil cream sauce is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. It is also a great way to use up leftover shrimp. The combination of shrimp, basil, and cream is a classic for a reason. It is a delicious and satisfying dish that is sure to please everyone at the table.
