GINGER ORANGE BRUSSELS SPROUTS

Ginger Orange Brussels Sprouts image

This is a great way to liven up Brussels sprouts. The orange and ginger zing pair perfectly with the sprouts' floral flavors. I have a blood orange infused olive oil that I like to use with this recipe. It helps with the zing. Other dried fruits or nuts might be interesting experiments.

Tips:

  • Choose the right Brussels sprouts: Look for firm, compact sprouts with bright green leaves. Avoid any that are wilted or have yellow or brown spots.
  • Shred the Brussels sprouts thinly: This will help them cook evenly and quickly.
  • Use a sharp knife to shred the Brussels sprouts: A dull knife will crush the sprouts and make them more difficult to cook evenly.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: When cooking the Brussels sprouts, make sure to give them enough space so that they can cook evenly. If you overcrowd the pan, the sprouts will steam instead of sautéing and will become mushy.
  • Cook the Brussels sprouts over medium-high heat: This will help them to brown and caramelize quickly.
  • Season the Brussels sprouts well: Don't be afraid to add salt, pepper, and other spices to taste. A little bit of garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika can also add a lot of flavor.
  • Serve the Brussels sprouts immediately: They are best when served fresh out of the pan. Leftover Brussels sprouts can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Shredded gingered Brussels sprouts are a delicious and healthy side dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences.
