Steps:
- Be sure to set out your cream cheese ahead of time, so it can soften. Then wash the strawberries, hull them, and prepare them, so they're ready to go.
- To make the Dream Whip filling, add the Dream Whip, milk, and vanilla to a large mixing bowl.
- Whisk them together, according to package directions, 'til the mixture begins to form soft peaks. It'll take about 4 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, whip the cream cheese well.
- Then add both the cream cheese and the powdered sugar to the Dream Whip mixture, and whisk for about 3 to 5 minutes, or 'til smooth and creamy.
- To mix up the vanilla pudding, add both pudding mixes and the milk to a clean mixing bowl.
- Whisk them together for about 2 minutes, and let sit for 3 to 5 more minutes. The pudding will thicken up more as it sits.
- Layer vanilla wafers on the bottom of a 9×13 baking dish.
- Spread the vanilla pudding over the vanilla wafers.
- Add a layer of sliced strawberries on top of the pudding.
- Then add a final layer of Dream Whip on top of the strawberries.
- Cover and refrigerate your strawberry shortcake lush for at least 4 hours before serving.
- When you're ready to serve the dessert, sprinkle chunked strawberries and cookie crumbs all over the top of the Dream Whip cream cheese layer.
- Then just scoop and serve! You can even add a dollop of whipped topping.
- Be sure to store this in the fridge if not serving right away. Keep any leftovers in the fridge, as well.

Steps:
- Heat oven to 375 degrees. Place strawberries in a bowl; sprinkle with lemon juice and 1/4 cup sugar. Let stand to release juices, about 1 hour. Meanwhile, in a large bowl, combine remaining 1/4 cup sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. Use a fork to cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse meal.
- Whisk together egg and 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons cream. Slowly add mixture to dry ingredients; mix with a fork until dough just comes together. Do not overmix. Transfer dough to a lightly floured surface; pat into a 6-inch square, 1 inch thick. Cut four rounds using a 2 1/2-inch cookie cutter. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Whisk together egg yolk and 1 tablespoon cream; brush over tops of biscuits. Bake until golden brown, 25 to 30 minutes. Cool on wire racks for 15 minutes.
- To make vanilla whipped cream, place remaining 1 cup cream and vanilla bean in a saucepan over medium heat; scald, and remove from heat. Cover, and steep for 10 minutes. Scrape seeds into cream, and discard pod. Pass cream mixture through a fine strainer into a bowl set in a large bowl of ice and water. Let stand until completely cold. Transfer to a large chilled metal bowl; add confectioners' sugar. Whip by hand into soft peaks (an electric mixer can curdle the cream), about 5 minutes.
- To assemble, slice the shortcakes open while warm with a bread knife. Divide strawberries and liquid among bottom halves of shortcakes; top with large dollops of vanilla whipped cream and upper halves of shortcakes, and serve.
Tips:
- For a stronger strawberry flavor, use fresh, ripe strawberries. You can also use frozen strawberries, but thaw them completely before using.
- If you don't have vanilla pudding mix, you can make your own by whisking together 1/4 cup cornstarch, 1/4 cup sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon salt in a saucepan. Then, whisk in 2 cups of milk and bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 1 minute, or until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
- To make a gluten-free version of this dessert, use gluten-free vanilla wafers or graham crackers.
- This dessert can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Conclusion:
This Shortcut Strawberry Vanilla Dessert is an easy and delicious treat that is perfect for any occasion. It's made with just a few simple ingredients and can be prepared in just a few minutes. The combination of strawberries, vanilla pudding, and whipped cream is sure to please everyone at your table. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy dessert, give this recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
