SHIRLEY'S FRUIT SALAD DRESSING

Shirley's Fruit Salad Dressing image

This fruit dressing is SCRUMPTIOUS poured over your favorite cut up fruits, and was created at Flagstone's Restaurant in Portsmouth, NH and used for many years on their buffet, until they closed the doors. You can put it on just about any fruits of your choice. My mom made it often for us during the holidays, and she also made it for showers, or when company came. All I remember is there was never any left when the company went home, if that tells you anything :)

Tips:

  • For a smooth and creamy dressing, make sure to use a good quality mayonnaise. If you can, try to make your own mayonnaise at home.
  • Fresh herbs are always best, but if you don't have any on hand, you can use dried herbs instead. Just be sure to use half the amount of dried herbs as you would fresh herbs.
  • If you're using unsalted butter, be sure to add a pinch of salt to the dressing.
  • To make a lighter dressing, use half the amount of mayonnaise and add more vinegar or lemon juice.
  • If you're making the salad ahead of time, be sure to drain the pineapple and mandarin oranges well before adding them to the salad. This will help to prevent the salad from getting watery.

Conclusion:

Shirley's Salad is a delicious and refreshing side dish that is perfect for any occasion. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own personal preferences. So next time you're looking for a new salad to try, give Shirley's Salad a try. You won't be disappointed!
