Steps:
- 1. Mix all ingredients at medium speed for 2 minutes.
- 2. Bake in greased and floured bundt pan for 40-50 minutes @350 degrees. Let cool in pan for 20 minutes.
- 3. Poke holes in cake and soak with the following glaze.
- 4. 1 cup powdered sugar, 1 tbsp butter, 3 tbsp crème Sherry. Heat glaze ingredients only until sugar is completely dissolved.
- 5. Serve topped with strawberries and whipped cream.
Tips:
- Use a quality bottle of dry Sherry. This will give your cake a rich, nutty flavor.
- Room temperature ingredients will blend together more smoothly.
- Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. This will help to incorporate air into the batter, resulting in a lighter, more tender cake.
- Gradually add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. This will help to prevent the batter from curdling.
- Use a sifter to combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. This will help to distribute the ingredients evenly throughout the batter.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in three additions, alternating with the milk. This will help to prevent the batter from becoming too thick or lumpy.
- Bake the cake in a preheated oven. This will help to ensure that the cake bakes evenly.
- Cool the cake completely before serving. This will allow the flavors to develop and the cake to set.
Conclusion:
Sherry pound cake is an easy-to-make and delicious classic dessert. It is perfect for any occasion, from a casual get-together to a special celebration. With its rich, nutty flavor and tender crumb, this cake is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
