Tips:

  • Choose fresh and vibrant asparagus. Look for spears that are bright green, firm, and have tightly closed tips. Avoid asparagus that is limp, wilted, or has brown or yellow spots.
  • Prepare the asparagus properly. Snap off the tough ends of the asparagus spears. You can do this by bending the spear until it snaps naturally, or by using a sharp knife to cut off the bottom inch or two.
  • Use a large skillet or wok. This will ensure that the shrimp and asparagus have enough space to cook evenly.
  • Heat the oil over high heat. This will help to sear the shrimp and prevent them from sticking to the pan.
  • Cook the shrimp in batches if necessary. If you are using a large amount of shrimp, cook them in batches so that they do not overcrowd the pan. Overcrowding will prevent the shrimp from cooking evenly.
  • Add the asparagus to the pan towards the end of the cooking time. Asparagus cooks quickly, so you do not want to add it to the pan too early or it will become overcooked.
  • Season the dish to taste. Add salt, pepper, and other seasonings to taste. You can also add a squeeze of lemon juice or a splash of rice vinegar for a bit of brightness.

Conclusion:

Sesame shrimp and asparagus stir-fry is a quick and easy weeknight meal that is packed with flavor. The shrimp are tender and juicy, the asparagus is crisp-tender, and the sauce is savory and slightly sweet. This dish is sure to please everyone at the table. Serve it over rice or noodles for a complete meal.
