Tips:

  • Choose oranges that are firm and have smooth, unblemished skin. Avoid oranges that have soft spots or bruises.
  • Wash the oranges thoroughly in warm water to remove any dirt or debris.
  • Use a sharp knife to zest the oranges. Be careful not to cut into the white pith, as this can be bitter.
  • If you don't have a zester, you can also use a vegetable peeler to remove the zest.
  • To segment the oranges, use a sharp knife to cut off the top and bottom of the orange. Then, score the orange vertically down the sides, being careful not to cut through the skin. Finally, use your fingers to gently pull the segments apart.
  • Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave. If you're using the microwave, be sure to heat the chocolate in short bursts, stirring in between, to prevent it from overheating and seizing.
  • To dip the oranges in the chocolate, hold each segment by the stem and carefully dip it into the melted chocolate. Allow the excess chocolate to drip off before placing the segment on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
  • Sprinkle the dipped oranges with sea salt immediately. This will help to enhance the flavor of the chocolate.
  • Refrigerate the dipped oranges for at least 30 minutes before serving. This will help the chocolate to set and harden.

Conclusion:

Sea salt dark chocolate dipped oranges are a delicious and elegant treat that is perfect for any occasion. They're easy to make and can be customized to your liking. For example, you can use milk chocolate or white chocolate instead of dark chocolate, or you can add other toppings such as chopped nuts or dried fruit.
