BAKED SHRIMP WONTONS RECIPE - (4.3/5)

Baked Shrimp Wontons Recipe - (4.3/5) image

Provided by cwyorkiex3

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 teaspoon soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
3 teaspoons vegetable oil, divided
1 can (4 ounces) tiny shrimp, drained and chopped
1/4 cup chopped mushrooms
1/4 cup shredded carrot
1/4 cup chopped green onions
24 wonton wrappers
1 large egg white, beaten

Steps:

  • 1.Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Mix the soy sauce, cornstarch, garlic powder and 1 tablespoon water in a small bowl until smooth. Set aside. 2.Heat 1 teaspoon oil in a small skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp, mushrooms, carrot and onions to skillet. Cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute. Stir in the soy sauce mixture. Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened, about 1 minute longer. Remove from heat. 3.Place 1 teaspoon of the shrimp mixture in the center of each wrapper. 4.Brush the edges with the egg white. Fold the wrappers in half to form a triangle. Press the edges to seal. 5.Brush the corners of each wonton with egg white. Pull the corners together and overlap slightly. Press to seal. Place on the prepared baking sheet. Brush with the remaining oil. Bake until crisp and golden, 15 to 20 minutes. Serve warm.

Tips:

  • Prep the shrimp properly: Devein and clean the shrimp thoroughly to remove any impurities. For a more succulent filling, consider using large shrimp and chopping them coarsely.
  • Use fresh wonton wrappers: Fresh wrappers are more pliable and easier to work with, resulting in better wontons. If using dried wrappers, soak them in warm water for a few minutes to soften before using.
  • Don't overfill the wontons: Overfilling can make the wontons difficult to seal and may cause them to break during cooking. Aim for a small spoonful of filling per wonton.
  • Seal the wontons tightly: To prevent the filling from leaking out during cooking, make sure to seal the wontons tightly. You can use a fork to crimp the edges or simply fold them over and press to seal.
  • Cook the wontons in batches: To avoid overcrowding the pan and ensure even cooking, cook the wontons in batches. This will also prevent them from sticking together.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: Overcrowding the pan can prevent the wontons from cooking evenly and may cause them to stick together. Cook the wontons in batches if necessary.
  • Serve with your favorite dipping sauce: Shrimp wontons are traditionally served with a soy-based dipping sauce, but you can also experiment with other sauces such as sweet and sour sauce, chili sauce, or even a simple vinegar-based sauce.

Conclusion:

These scrumptious shrimp wontons are a delightful appetizer or snack that can be enjoyed on any occasion. With their crispy wonton wrappers and succulent shrimp filling, they are sure to be a hit among your family and friends. So, gather your ingredients, follow the step-by-step instructions, and indulge in the deliciousness of these homemade shrimp wontons.
