Provided by Carolynne

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 kg bag frozen hashbrown potatoes (thawed slightly for easier mixing)
1 500 ml container sour cream
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup melted butter
1/3 cup grated onion
2 cups grated cheddar cheese
Salt and pepper (to taste)
Parmesan cheese (to taste)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350F. Spray a 9x13 baking dish with non-stick spray. Mix all ingredients together (except Parmesan cheese) in the largest bowl you can find. Put the potato mixture into the baking dish and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake for 1-1/2 hours. Let sit 5 minutes before serving.

Tips:

  • Choose the right potatoes: Waxy potatoes, such as Yukon Gold or Red Bliss, hold their shape well and are less likely to fall apart during cooking.
  • Cut the potatoes evenly: This will help them cook evenly.
  • Soak the potatoes in cold water: This will help remove excess starch and prevent them from sticking together.
  • Season the potatoes well: Use a combination of salt, pepper, and your favorite herbs and spices.
  • Cook the potatoes over medium heat: This will help them cook evenly without burning.
  • Flip the potatoes occasionally: This will help them brown evenly.
  • Serve the potatoes hot: They are best when they are freshly cooked.

Conclusion:

Schwartz Potatoes are a delicious and easy-to-make side dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are perfect for a weeknight meal or a special occasion.
