OUR FAVORITE MEATLOAF

Our Favorite Meatloaf image

This ultimate meatloaf recipe took rounds and rounds of testing to get just right. Our final version incorporates an ideal blend of seasoned ground beef and pork, aromatics, and breadcrumbs and bakes in a freeform loaf on a baking sheet instead of in a loaf pan for maximum browning. The result is a loaf that is savory, tender, and juicy, yet holds together well when sliced.

Tips:

  • Choose the right venison. Use venison from a young deer for the most tender meatloaf. If you are using venison from an older deer, you may want to grind it twice to make it more tender.
  • Use a variety of meats. In addition to venison, you can also use ground beef, pork, or veal in your meatloaf. This will help to add flavor and richness to the dish.
  • Don't overmix the meatloaf. Overmixing can make the meatloaf tough. Mix the ingredients just until they are combined.
  • Use a loaf pan that is the right size. The meatloaf should fill the pan without being too crowded. If the pan is too small, the meatloaf will be too dense. If the pan is too large, the meatloaf will be too dry.
  • Bake the meatloaf at the correct temperature. The ideal temperature for baking meatloaf is 350 degrees Fahrenheit. This will help to ensure that the meatloaf cooks evenly without drying out.
  • Let the meatloaf rest before slicing. Let the meatloaf rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing. This will help to keep the juices in the meatloaf.

Conclusion:

Savory venison meatloaf is a delicious and hearty dish that is perfect for a family meal. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. With a little planning and effort, you can create a venison meatloaf that will be the star of your next dinner party.
