SWEET & SAVORY MEATBALLS

This is a "usual" that I bring to the office potlucks...It's also a favorite of my kids that they now EXPECT to have every New Years' Eve! So easy for a Crockpot appetizer! Sometimes I make this for dinner -- I just whip up some old fashioned mashed potatoes and serve the meatballs & sauce over top (or to the side) of the mashed potatoes...And the kids just love me when I do that!!! :)

Tips:

  • Choose the right meat: For the best results, use a ground meat that is at least 80% lean. This will help to keep the meatballs moist and tender.
  • Use fresh ingredients: The fresher your ingredients, the better your meatballs will taste. If possible, use fresh herbs and spices, and avoid using pre-packaged or dried ingredients.
  • Mix the ingredients thoroughly: Be sure to mix the meatball ingredients thoroughly until they are well combined. This will help to ensure that the meatballs are evenly cooked and flavorful.
  • Chill the meatballs before cooking: Chilling the meatballs for at least 30 minutes before cooking will help them to hold their shape and prevent them from falling apart.
  • Cook the meatballs over medium heat: Cooking the meatballs over medium heat will help to prevent them from burning or drying out.
  • Use a meat thermometer: The best way to ensure that the meatballs are cooked through is to use a meat thermometer. The internal temperature of the meatballs should reach 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Serve the meatballs immediately: Savory sweet and sour meatballs are best served immediately after they are cooked. This will help to keep them warm and flavorful.
