Tips for Making Savory Quick Bread

  • Use a variety of flours. All-purpose flour is a good choice for quick bread, but you can also use whole wheat flour, rye flour, or even cornmeal. Using a variety of flours will give your bread a more complex flavor and texture.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing the batter will make the bread tough. Mix the ingredients just until they are combined.
  • Use fresh ingredients. Fresh ingredients will give your bread the best flavor. If you can, use organic ingredients.
  • Bake the bread in a preheated oven. This will help the bread rise evenly.
  • Don't overbake the bread. Overbaking will make the bread dry and crumbly. Bake the bread for the amount of time specified in the recipe.
  • Let the bread cool before slicing. This will help the bread hold its shape.
