MUSHROOM PALMIERS

Mushroom Palmiers image

I found this recipe while working at a small-town museum in West Texas. It was the appetizer for a fundraiser a long, long time ago, and it's still a huge hit at parties. Frozen puff pastry helps make it easy and impressive. The palmiers also freeze well. -Judy Lock, Panhandle, Texas

1 tablespoon water
1/4 cup shredded Italian cheese blend
1 teaspoon paprika

  • Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Tips:

  • To achieve the perfect puff pastry, ensure that the butter is very cold and firm. This will help create distinct layers and a flaky texture.
  • When rolling the dough, use a light touch and avoid overworking it. This will prevent the dough from becoming tough.
  • If the dough becomes too soft or sticky, place it in the refrigerator for a few minutes to firm it up.
  • Be generous with the filling. The more filling you use, the more flavorful the palmiers will be.
  • Before baking, brush the palmiers with egg wash. This will help them brown and give them a shiny glaze.
  • Bake the palmiers until they are golden brown and puffed up. This will ensure that they are cooked through and have a crispy texture.
