1 pound dried navy beans
2 cartons (32 ounces each) chicken broth
2 cups water
1 smoked turkey wing (about 7 ounces)
1 medium onion, chopped
1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and finely chopped
1 tablespoon minced garlic
3 bay leaves
1 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
10 cups chopped fresh spinach (about 8 ounces)
1 large sweet red pepper, chopped
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
Grated Parmesan cheese, optional

Steps:

  • Rinse and sort beans; soak according to package directions., In a 5- or 6-qt. slow cooker, combine beans, broth, water, turkey wing, onion, jalapeno, garlic, bay leaves, pepper and pepper flakes. Cook, covered, on low until beans are tender, 7-9 hours. , Remove turkey wing and bay leaves; discard. Stir in spinach, red pepper and salt; heat through. 6 cups reduced-sodium vegetable broth
1 can (15-1/2 ounces) great northern beans, rinsed and drained
1 can (15 ounces) tomato puree
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 cup uncooked converted long grain rice
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon salt
7 cups chopped fresh spinach
1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • In a 4-qt. slow cooker, combine the first 9 ingredients. Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or until heated through. Stir in spinach. Cover and cook for 15 minutes or until spinach is wilted. Sprinkle with cheese. Freeze option: Before adding cheese, cool soup. Freeze soup in freezer containers. To use, partially thaw in refrigerator overnight. 1 large onion, chopped
1 Tbsp olive oil
6 clove garlic, chopped
2 lb dry northern beans
4 c water
4 c chicken broth or stock
1 tsp chicken bouillon paste optional, it adds flavor
1 c baby carrots
Salt and pepper to taste
1 Tbsp herbes de provence
1 meaty ham bone or a couple meaty ham hocks

Steps:

  • 1. Place oil in bottom of slow cooker, add onion, garlic and carrots. Next add ham bone, beans, seasonings, broth and water. Stir in bouillon.
  • 2. Cook on high for 6 hours adding more broth or water as beans absorb. Cook until beans are desired tenderness.
