CRAB SAVANNAH

Crab Savannah image

A good friend of mine once said that there was nothing like food in Georgia. Boy was he right! This dish was served to me at a very informal "formal" dinner party. The informality was that we all just sat around and ate and talked. The formality was this dish and believe me, it is something I would never hesitate to serve to anyone. I was very glad he wasn't stingy with the recipe because I think I could eat this at least once a week!

Tips:

  • Use fresh crab meat. Fresh crab meat has a sweeter, more delicate flavor than frozen crab meat. If you can't find fresh crab meat, you can use frozen crab meat that has been thawed in the refrigerator overnight.
  • Don't overcook the crab meat. Crab meat is very delicate and can easily be overcooked. Cook it just until it is heated through, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Use a good quality cream cheese. The cream cheese is the base of the dip, so it's important to use a good quality cream cheese. Look for a cream cheese that is smooth and creamy, with no lumps.
  • Shred the cheese yourself. Pre-shredded cheese often contains additives that can affect the flavor and texture of the dip. Shredding the cheese yourself ensures that you get the best flavor and texture.
  • Use a variety of spices. The spices in the dip add flavor and complexity. Don't be afraid to experiment with different spices to find a combination that you like.
  • Serve the dip hot. The dip is best served hot, right out of the oven. You can also make the dip ahead of time and reheat it in the oven before serving.

Conclusion:

Savannah Hot Crab Dip is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. With its creamy, cheesy texture and flavorful spices, this dip is sure to be a hit with your guests. Serve it with crackers, chips, or vegetables for a delicious and satisfying snack.
