2 teaspoons sugar
1 sweet apple such as Fuji or Gala, peeled, halved, cored, and cut into 1/4-inch-thick slices
3 large eggs

Yield Makes 2 cups

Number Of Ingredients 7

3 tablespoons butter
4 large Granny Smith apples (about 2 1/4 pounds), peeled, cored, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
2 tablespoons golden brown sugar
1 tablespoon honey
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon grated orange peel

Steps:

  • Cook butter in large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until beginning to brown. Add apples and sauté until tender, about 9 minutes. Add all remaining ingredients; stir to blend. Cool. (Can be made 2 days ahead. Cover and chill.)

Tips:

  • Use a good quality non-stick skillet. This will help prevent the omelet from sticking and tearing.
  • Heat the skillet over medium heat. If the skillet is too hot, the omelet will cook too quickly and will be dry.
  • Use a thin layer of butter or cooking spray to grease the skillet. This will help prevent the omelet from sticking.
  • Beat the eggs and milk together until they are well blended. This will help create a smooth omelet.
  • Season the eggs with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Add the fillings to the eggs. Be careful not to overload the omelet, or it will be difficult to fold.
  • Pour the egg mixture into the skillet. Tilt the skillet to distribute the eggs evenly.
  • Cook the omelet for 2-3 minutes, or until the bottom is set.
  • Fold the omelet in half. You can also fold it into quarters or thirds, if desired.
  • Serve the omelet immediately.

Conclusion:

A sautéed apple omelet is a delicious and nutritious breakfast or brunch option. It is packed with protein, healthy fats, and vitamins and minerals. The apples add a touch of sweetness and crunch, while the cinnamon adds a warm and inviting flavor. This omelet is sure to be a hit with the whole family.
