5 slices bacon
½ cup slivered almonds
1 (16 ounce) package frozen cut green beans
¼ cup butter

Steps:

  • Place bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook until browned on one side, then turn over to cook on the other side. Add the almonds to the skillet at this time, and cook, stirring until light golden brown.
  • Remove the bacon from the skillet, leaving the bacon drippings. Crumble or chop bacon, and return to the skillet. Melt the butter in with the drippings. Add the green beans; cook and stir until tender, about 8 minutes.

1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
1 pinch salt
4 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 medium onion, finely diced
1 shallot, chopped
½ teaspoon garlic salt
½ teaspoon soy sauce
salt and ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Fill a stockpot with water and bring to a boil over high heat. Add green beans and 1 pinch salt; boil until tender, 5 to 10 minutes. Drain beans in a colander and rinse with cold water. Blot dry using paper towels.

1 medium onion, chopped
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1/4 teaspoon salt

16 ounces cocktail onions, drained
2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1 1/2 teaspoons cider vinegar
3/4 teaspoon salt

  • Trim green beans and cut in half.
  • Cook beans in boiling water for 4 minutes or until crisp-tender.
