Tips:

  • Choose the right mushrooms. Portobello mushrooms are the best choice for this recipe because they are large and have a meaty texture. You can also use cremini or shiitake mushrooms if you prefer.
  • Clean the mushrooms thoroughly. Use a damp paper towel to wipe away any dirt or debris from the mushrooms. You can also rinse them under cold water, but be sure to pat them dry before cooking.
  • Slice the mushrooms evenly. This will help them cook evenly. If the mushrooms are too thick, they will take longer to cook and may not get as tender.
  • Use a large skillet. This will give the mushrooms plenty of room to cook and prevent them from overcrowding. If you don't have a large skillet, you can cook the mushrooms in batches.
  • Cook the mushrooms over medium-high heat. This will help them to brown and develop a delicious flavor. Be sure to stir the mushrooms frequently so that they cook evenly.
  • Add the spinach towards the end of cooking. Spinach cooks very quickly, so you don't want to add it too early or it will wilt and become limp. Stir the spinach into the mushrooms until it is just wilted.
  • Season the mushrooms and spinach to taste. Salt, pepper, and garlic powder are all good options. You can also add other herbs and spices to taste, such as oregano, basil, or thyme.

Conclusion:

Sautéed portobellas and spinach is a quick and easy side dish that is perfect for any occasion. It is also a healthy and delicious way to get your daily dose of vegetables. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a dish that is both flavorful and nutritious. This dish is a great way to use up leftover mushrooms. You can also add other vegetables to the dish, such as zucchini, squash, or bell peppers. Sautéed portobellas and spinach is a versatile dish that can be served as a side dish, a main course, or an appetizer. It is also a great option for meal prep, as it can be reheated and enjoyed throughout the week.
