Time 40m

Yield 6

Number Of Ingredients 14

6 slices bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 link smoked pineapple-bacon chicken sausage, cut into slices
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 teaspoon butter
2 ½ cups frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed
½ onion, chopped
¾ teaspoon garlic powder, divided
½ teaspoon onion powder
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
6 eggs
1 tablespoon milk
1 pinch salt and ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Place bacon in a 10-inch skillet and cook over medium heat, turning occasionally, until crisp, about 10 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to remove bacon to a paper towel-lined small bowl. Discard half the bacon fat using a spoon.
  • Cook sausage in the hot skillet until browned on both sides, about 5 minutes. Remove to the bowl with the bacon.
  • Heat canola oil and butter in the same skillet over medium heat. Add hash browns and onion. Sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, onion powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper on top and stir together. Spread out the hash browns; cook, without stirring, until browned, about 5 minutes. Turn hash browns over and sprinkle Cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  • Stir remaining garlic powder, eggs, and milk together in a bowl; season with salt and pepper. Pour egg mixture over the Cheddar cheese-covered hash browns in the skillet. Sprinkle bacon and sausage pieces on top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until top is puffed, cheese is melted, and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean, 10 to 15 minutes.

Categories     Breakfast Sausage

Time 40m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 9

4 tablespoons canola or vegetable oil, divided
3/4 (1-pound) package Jimmy Dean Premium Pork Sausage
4 cups frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed
½ cup diced white onion
1 cup diced green bell pepper
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
4 fried eggs
1 avocado, sliced

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat for about 30 seconds. Add Jimmy Dean sausage and cook for 8 to 10 minutes until browned, stirring frequently to break up the sausage into small pieces, then drain. Remove the sausage and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, heat the remaining oil for 30 seconds. Carefully add the potatoes and fry until they begin to turn golden brown, 10 to 15 minutes. Stir occasionally so that the potatoes do not stick or burn.
  • Add onions, peppers, salt, and pepper, and cook for an additional 5 minutes. Add the sausage and stir well.
  • Serve with the fried eggs and avocado slices on top to get more nutrition from the meal.

Tips:

  • Choose high-quality sausage: The quality of the sausage you use will greatly impact the flavor of your dish. Look for a sausage made with fresh, high-quality meat and avoid sausages that are heavily processed or contain fillers.
  • Use a variety of vegetables: This recipe calls for bell pepper, onion, and potatoes, but you can use any vegetables that you like. Some other good options include broccoli, zucchini, mushrooms, and spinach.
  • Don't overcrowd the skillet: If you overcrowd the skillet, the vegetables will not cook evenly and the sausage will not brown properly. Cook the sausage and vegetables in batches if necessary.
  • Season to taste: This recipe is a good starting point, but you may want to adjust the seasonings to your own taste. Add more salt, pepper, or other spices as desired.

Conclusion:

Sausage Hash Skillet is a quick and easy meal that is perfect for a busy weeknight. It is also a great way to use up leftover sausage. This dish is hearty, flavorful, and satisfying. Serve it with a side of toast, eggs, or fruit for a complete meal.
