Tips:

  • Use high-quality Italian sausage: Look for sausage made with fresh, flavorful pork and spices. Avoid sausages that are heavily processed or contain fillers.
  • Choose the right potatoes: Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes are good choices for this dish. They hold their shape well and have a fluffy texture when cooked.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: When browning the sausage and potatoes, make sure to give them enough space in the pan so that they can cook evenly. Otherwise, they will steam instead of brown.
  • Use a well-seasoned cast iron skillet: A cast iron skillet is ideal for this dish because it distributes heat evenly and helps to create a crispy crust on the potatoes.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different herbs and spices: In addition to the oregano and basil, you can also add rosemary, thyme, or red pepper flakes to taste.

Conclusion:

Sausage and Potatoes Italiano is a hearty and flavorful dish that is easy to make and perfect for a weeknight meal. The combination of sausage, potatoes, and vegetables is sure to please everyone at the table. With just a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a delicious and satisfying meal that the whole family will love.
