Sprinkle bread crumbs on top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until bubbly, 30 to 35 minutes.

From Betty Crocker. Yes, it has spam in it...but it just tastes like cubed ham, which you could use in place of the spam if you prefer. This casserole has a nice tangy flavor to it.

Time 45m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

8 ounces macaroni, uncooked (I like the spiral shaped ones)
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1/3 cup green pepper, chopped
1 tablespoon butter or 1 tablespoon margarine
1 (12 ounce) can Spam or 1 (12 ounce) can ham, cut into cubes
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Cook macaroni as directed on package; drain.
  • In a large skillet cook and stir onion and green pepper in butter until tender.
  • Stir the macaroni and remaining ingredients into the skillet.
  • Pour mixture into an ungreased 1 1/2 quart casserole dish.
  • Cover and bake for 30 minutes or until hot and bubbly.

Tips:

  • To enhance the flavor of your pork casserole, consider using a variety of seasonings and spices. Paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, and dried rosemary are excellent choices that complement the pork and other ingredients well.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, add a cornstarch or flour slurry towards the end of the cooking time. Simply combine equal parts cornstarch or flour with water to form a smooth paste, then whisk it into the simmering sauce until it reaches your desired consistency.
  • For a more vibrant and colorful casserole, incorporate some chopped fresh vegetables such as carrots, celery, or bell peppers. These vegetables will add sweetness, texture, and nutritional value to the dish.
  • Feel free to experiment with different types of pasta or rice. While the recipe calls for elbow macaroni, you could substitute it with penne, spaghetti, or even quinoa for a healthier option.
  • To achieve a golden brown and crispy top on your casserole, sprinkle some grated Parmesan or mozzarella cheese on top before baking it in the oven. This will create an irresistible cheesy crust that everyone will love.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, the Saucy Twist Pork Casserole is a versatile and flavorful dish that is sure to please the whole family. With a combination of tender pork, a rich and creamy sauce, and a variety of other ingredients, this casserole is a hearty and comforting meal that is perfect for any occasion.
