RED WINE SANGRIA FOR A PARTY
i have to give full credit to BecR for this recipe. my family and i love her sangria #112772 so much that i have to make it in larger quantities as our neighbors clamor for it, too! i am posting the quantities i use to make lots more than BecR's original recipe. this is a red wine and citrus sangria and served best when chilled. it looks pretty in wine glasses with ice and slices of the fruit, too. thanks, BecR!

Steps:
- first of all, this will not all fit in a big tupperware pitcher. to make this work, pour about 2/3 of the jug of wine into the pitcher. add all the other ingredients except for the sliced fruit.
- (alternative: mix up all ingredients except the burgundy. pour half into each of two large pitchers. then pour half the burgundy into each pitcher. stir well before pouring. yes, we actually drink this all fairly quickly with a party here or lots of neighbors!).
- i make a simple syrup using the 1 1/2 cups sugar and 1 1/2 cups of water and follow a recipe zaar recipe, of course. this only takes about 5 minutes. let the syrup cool before adding it to the pitcher.
- if you can manage to wait a whole day, make this the night before. it's good after it sits and chills. we can't wait that long and start icing our glasses and enjoying it right away!
- to use up the rest of your burgundy, pour the glasses 1/3 full of burgundy before you add the sangria when you are pouring the first bunch of glasses. when you think the remaining wine will fit in the pitcher, pour it in to the pitcher. don't forget to stir it all up.
- i arrange the sliced fruit on a pretty plate when i am serving this sangria.
- your friends and neighbors will love you if you share this with them!

Steps:
- Combine citrus slices and other firm fruits in a large, nonreactive container. Add wine, liqueur, brandy, and lemon verbena. Cover and refrigerate overnight (or up to 3 days). When ready to serve, put some soft fruits into each wine glass and fill two-thirds full with the Sangria. Top off with a splash of club soda.
Tips:
- Choose a good quality red wine. A fruity, flavorful wine will make the best sangria. Look for a wine with notes of berries, plums, or citrus. You can also use a white or rosé wine, but red wine is the traditional choice.
- Use fresh fruit. Fresh fruit will give your sangria the best flavor. Choose a variety of fruits that are in season, such as oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruit, berries, and peaches. You can also use frozen fruit, but fresh fruit is always best.
- Add some sweetness. Sugar or simple syrup can be added to taste. You can also use honey, agave nectar, or another natural sweetener.
- Use spices to taste. Spices like cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and ginger can add a warm, festive flavor to your sangria. Be careful not to add too much spice, or it will overpower the other flavors.
- Let it chill. Sangria is best served cold. Chill it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
- Garnish with fruit and herbs. When serving, garnish your sangria with fresh fruit and herbs, such as mint, basil, or rosemary.
Conclusion:
Sangria is a delicious and refreshing drink that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be customized to your own taste. Whether you like it sweet, tart, spicy, or fruity, there is a sangria recipe out there for you. So next time you are looking for a fun and festive drink to serve at your next party, give sangria a try. You won't be disappointed.
