Tips:

  • Choose ripe sandhill plums: Look for plums that are a deep purple color and slightly soft to the touch. Avoid plums that are green or have bruises.
  • Use a pastry blender or food processor to make the pie crust: This will help to ensure that the crust is evenly mixed and flaky.
  • Chill the pie crust for at least 30 minutes before baking: This will help to prevent the crust from shrinking.
  • Bake the pie at a high temperature for the first 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature: This will help to create a golden brown crust and prevent the filling from overcooking.
  • Let the pie cool for at least 1 hour before serving: This will allow the filling to set and the flavors to meld.

Conclusion:

Sandhill plum pie is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With its sweet and tart filling and flaky crust, this pie is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. So next time you have a craving for a sweet treat, give this sandhill plum pie recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
