SAND DESSERT AKA VANILLA "DIRT DESSERT"

Sand Dessert Aka Vanilla

The first time I made this was for my son's Pirate theme birthday party. I made it in a casserole dish and put plastic pirate toys on top. It's become a family favorite, especially since my son doesn't like chocolate. My husband took this to work for a potluck. It disappeared quickly and he was asked to bring it again.

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 package vanilla wafers
3 chocolate Oreo cookies
2 (4 serving size) boxes French Vanilla (or Vanilla) instant pudding mix
2 1/2 cups milk
1 package (8-ounce) cream cheese, slightly softened
1/3 cup sugar (or 2/3 cup confectioners sugar)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
12 ounces Cool Whip whipped topping, thawed
1 plastic sand pail with a shovel for serving

Steps:

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the pudding mixes and milk until it thickens, 1to 2 minutes. Refrigerate. In another bowl and using a mixer, beat together the cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until creamy. Add to the pudding mixture and blend on low speed of mixer just until incorporated. Using a spatula, gently fold in the Cool Whip. Refrigerate. Grind vanilla wafers and Oreos together in a food processor using the steel blade to a fine crumb that resembles sand. ASSEMBLY: Layer the "sand" and pudding in the bucket several times, starting and ending with "sand". Now dig in with the shovel! Keep refrigerated.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality vanilla pudding mix. This will ensure that your dessert has a rich, creamy flavor.
  • Make sure your milk is cold before you start mixing the pudding. This will help the pudding to set properly.
  • Don't overmix the pudding. Overmixing can make the pudding tough.
  • Let the pudding cool completely before you add the whipped topping. This will help to prevent the whipped topping from melting.
  • Use a variety of toppings to make your dessert more visually appealing. Some popular toppings include chocolate chips, crushed Oreos, and chopped nuts.

Conclusion:

Sand dessert, also known as vanilla dirt dessert, is a delicious and easy-to-make treat that is perfect for any occasion.
