SALMON IN FIG LEAVES

Salmon in Fig Leaves image

While this salmon dish evokes pure summer in California, it's easily done almost anywhere. The salmon is king salmon, and its season is summer, which coincides perfectly with the ripening of figs in all but the northernmost parts of the country. There is nothing better than a good fig, but for this recipe, incorporate the underused leaves, which make a perfect package for the fish, contributing a kind of nutty flavor to it.

DELICIOUS FETA-CRUSTED SALMON

Delicious Feta-Crusted Salmon image

I first created this dish when my family suggested I try something other than the same tired (yet still yummy) Asian salmon dish. I whipped this up out of ingredients I had on hand. They thanked me profusely. Now I have a new dish to use. It's pretty rich in flavor, but not so high in fat (depending on what kind of ingredients you use). Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Choose the freshest salmon possible. Look for salmon that is bright pink in color and has a firm texture. Avoid salmon that is dull in color or has a slimy texture.
  • Use a good quality fig jam. The fig jam is the key ingredient in this recipe, so it is important to use a jam that is made with fresh figs and has a good flavor.
  • Don't overcook the salmon. Salmon is a delicate fish, so it is important to cook it gently. Overcooked salmon will be dry and tough.
  • Serve the salmon immediately. Salmon is best served immediately after it is cooked. This will help to ensure that the salmon is moist and flavorful.

Conclusion:

This recipe for salmon with fig jam is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. The salmon is cooked to perfection and the fig jam adds a sweet and tangy flavor that complements the salmon perfectly. This dish is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
