Tips:

  • Mise en place: To save time and ensure you have all the ingredients ready when you need them, measure and prepare all of your ingredients before you start cooking.
  • Use fresh herbs and spices: Fresh herbs and spices will give your meatballs more flavor than dried herbs and spices. If you don't have fresh herbs or spices on hand, you can use dried herbs and spices, but use about half the amount of dried herbs and spices that you would use fresh.
  • Don't overmix the meatball mixture: Overmixing the meatball mixture will make the meatballs tough. Mix the meatball mixture just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Brown the meatballs well: Browning the meatballs will help to seal in the flavor and keep them moist. Brown the meatballs in a large skillet over medium heat until they are browned on all sides.
  • Use a good quality beef broth: The beef broth will add flavor to the meatballs and the sauce. Use a good quality beef broth that is low in sodium.
  • Simmer the meatballs in the sauce for at least 20 minutes: This will allow the meatballs to absorb the flavors of the sauce.
  • Serve the meatballs with mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles: Salisbury meatballs are a hearty and satisfying meal that can be served with a variety of side dishes.

Conclusion:

These Salisbury meatballs with caramelized onions are a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for a weeknight dinner.
