SPINACH SALAD DRESSING

Spinach Salad Dressing image

My ex-wife developed this recipe about 30 years ago, but it has been modified many times over the years due to changing tastes and the availability of ingredients. Decrease olive oil by half, and increase spices and hot sauce to make a great marinade for grilling meat and veggies. Prep time does not include time for designing and building your salad... just for making the dressing.

Provided by Texas Barby

Categories     Salad Dressings

Time 5m

Yield 12 ounces, 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

3 tablespoons salad vinegar (I use Heinz.)
1/4 cup sugar
1/8 teaspoon dry mustard

1/16 teaspoon salt
1/16 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
1/3 cup canola oil

Steps:

  • Whisk together first six ingredients.

  • Of the seasonings, I only measure the onion powder. Otherwise, I season to taste. Store in tightly covered jar. Shake well before serving.

Tips:

  • Choose the freshest spinach possible: Fresh spinach has a vibrant green color and crisp texture. Avoid wilted or yellowed leaves.
  • Use a variety of toppings: Spinach salad is a versatile dish that can be topped with a variety of ingredients. Some popular options include sliced almonds, crumbled bacon, diced hard-boiled eggs, and crumbled cheese.
  • Make your own dressing: Homemade dressing is always better than store-bought. This recipe provides a simple and delicious dressing that can be made in just a few minutes.
