RUM CREAM LIQUEUR

If you're watching your waistline then don't try this recipe, well once a year is okay LOL! This is a drink from heaven!.... Because of the raw eggs, I advise not to serve this to the elderly due to Salmonella. This recipe will make 1 litre, but I really suggest to double the amount.

Yield 1 litre, 15 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 (300 g) can sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 cups rum (use white or amber, you can use less if desired, I like to use the 1-1/2 cups!)
1 cup whipping cream
2 eggs
2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
2 teaspoons vanilla

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients in a blender until smooth.
  • Pour into a very clean glass bottle.
  • Refrigerate it for up to 7 days, the flavors will intensify the longer you leave it, believe me it won't last that long LOL!

JAMAICAN RUM CREAM

Jamaican Rum Cream image

I fell in love with rum cream on our first trip to Jamaica. Unfortunately, Sangsters (the Jamaican brand) isn't sold in the US so after going online and trying many recipes, tweaking this, removing that, I found what is the closest in flavor to the Sangster's brand. It makes an excellent gift as most people aren't familiar with...

Time 5m

Number Of Ingredients 7

14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
1-1 1/4 c amber rum (appleton's is what i use)
1 c cream or half and half
3 Tbsp chocolate syrup
2 Tbsp fresh brewed coffee
1 tsp real vanilla extract
1 tsp coconut extract

Steps:

  • 1. Mix all ingredients in a blender and run on a low setting for a minute, just long enough to blend.
  • 2. Refrigerate for an hour for flavors to blend. Serve over ice, in coffee, over ice cream, or in any way one would use Irish cream. It has the same texture but not the bite of whiskey. Keeps for 2 weeks in the fridge, I'm told. It never stays around long enough at our house!

Tips:

  • Use high-quality rum. The type of rum you use will greatly affect the flavor of your liqueur. Choose a smooth, flavorful rum that you enjoy drinking. Dark rum will give your liqueur a richer flavor, while light rum will produce a lighter, more refreshing drink.
  • Use fresh cream. Fresh cream will give your liqueur a richer, creamier flavor. If you can, use heavy cream or whipping cream. If fresh cream unavailable, try substituting canned coconut cream or almond milk. You can also use powdered non-dairy creamer, but it will produce a less creamy finish.
  • Use a variety of spices. The spices you use will add depth and flavor to your liqueur. Ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla are all classic choices. You can also experiment with other spices, such as allspice, cloves, or ginger.
  • Use a sweetener that you like. Sugar is the traditional sweetener for rum cream liqueur, but you can use any sweetener you like. Honey, maple syrup, or agave nectar are all good options. Start with a small amount of sweetener and add more to taste.
  • Let your liqueur age. Aging will allow the flavors of your liqueur to mellow and develop. If you can, let your liqueur age for at least two weeks before drinking. The longer you age it, the better it will taste.

Conclusion:

Homemade rum cream liqueur is a delicious and easy-to-make treat. It's perfect for sipping on its own, using in cocktails, or as a topping for desserts. With a little creativity, you can customize your liqueur to your own taste preferences. So experiment and have fun!
