Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1/2 cup sugar
4 teaspoons fresh rosemary leaves
2 ounces gin, such as Hendrick's
3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
Small rosemary sprig, for serving

Steps:

  • Rosemary Simple Syrup:In a small saucepan, bring 1/2 cup water, sugar, and rosemary to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves. Let stand 30 minutes, then strain; discard solids. Refrigerate in an airtight container up to 1 week. (Makes 1/2 cup.)
  • Cocktail:Combine gin, lemon juice, and 3/4 ounce syrup in a cocktail shaker. Fill halfway with ice. Shake until outside of shaker is frosty, about 30 seconds. Strain and serve, garnished with rosemary.

Tips:

  • Use fresh rosemary. Fresh rosemary has a more intense flavor than dried rosemary. If you can't find fresh rosemary, you can use 1/2 teaspoon of dried rosemary instead.
  • Make sure the rosemary syrup is cold before using it. This will help the syrup to stay well-mixed in the gimlet.
  • Use a good quality gin. A good gin will make a big difference in the flavor of the gimlet. Look for a gin that is juniper-forward and has a floral or citrusy flavor.
  • Serve the gimlet immediately. Gimlets are best served immediately after they are made. The rosemary syrup will start to settle to the bottom of the glass if the gimlet sits for too long.

Conclusion:

The rosemary gimlet is a refreshing and flavorful cocktail that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be customized to your liking. Whether you like your gimlets tart, sweet, or somewhere in between, the rosemary gimlet is sure to please. So next time you're looking for a delicious and unique cocktail, give the rosemary gimlet a try.
