Continue to mash them until everything is incorporated. 10. Once you have a nice Mashed Potato consistency you are ready to serve! ~Serve with a dollop of Sour Cream on top or a little more Butter. If you have some fresh Chives they would look great on top for a little garnish as well. I always have them in my garden and I would have added them on top....but I live in Minnesota and it is wintertime and snowing! -Enjoy! Recipe by: Hot Dish Homemaker

Yield 10 servings

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 heads of garlic
1 tablespoon olive oil
4 1/2 pounds red-skinned sweet potatoes (yams), peeled, cut into 2-inch chunks
1 1/4 cups whole milk
3/4 cup whipping cream
2 tablespoons (1/4 stick) butter

  • For a creamier texture, use a potato ricer to mash the sweet potatoes.
  • Add a tablespoon of butter or olive oil to the sweet potatoes while mashing for a richer flavor.
  • If you don't have time to roast the garlic, you can use a teaspoon of garlic powder instead.
