Categories     Vegetable

Time 30m

Yield 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 tablespoon olive oil
2 teaspoons garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
3 (10 ounce) containers Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
1 teaspoon lemon zest, freshly grated
1 teaspoon lemon juice

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 500ºF. Line a rimmed 15 x 10-in. baking sheet with nonstick foil. Mix oil, garlic, salt and pepper in a large ziptop bag. Add sprouts, seal and turn to coat.
  • Spread on prepared baking sheet. Roast 15 minutes, or until crisp-tender when pierced. Sprinkle with lemon zest and juice; toss to coat.

Tips:

  • Choose the right Brussels sprouts: Look for firm, bright green sprouts with tightly closed leaves. Avoid any that are yellowed or have brown spots.
  • Trim the Brussels sprouts: Cut off the stem end of each Brussels sprout and remove any wilted or discolored leaves.
  • Roast the Brussels sprouts at a high temperature: This will help them to caramelize and develop a delicious roasted flavor. Aim for a temperature of 425°F (220°C) or higher.
  • Toss the Brussels sprouts with olive oil and seasonings: This will help them to evenly coat and roast. Use a combination of olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder for a classic flavor.
  • Roast the Brussels sprouts until they are tender and slightly charred: This will usually take about 20-25 minutes, depending on the size of the sprouts. Shake the pan halfway through roasting to ensure even cooking.
  • Serve the Brussels sprouts immediately: They are best enjoyed hot and crispy.
