I made these one year and gave them as Christmas gifts. They were the most popular presents I ever gave! I can't remember yield and times exactly now so they are a guess with cook time being chill time.

SCOTTISH CHOCOLATE SHORTBREAD TRUFFLES

Scottish Chocolate Shortbread Truffles image

A melt in your mouth mixture of dark chocolate,Scottish shortbread, and whisky, this is the easiest truffle recipe I've ever made...the Drambuie is subtle so if you prefer a strong taste of it, double the measurement.Chocolate should be 55-70% cocoa solids. This recipe is from "Scot's Cooking" by Sue Lawrence.

Tips:

  • Prep your ingredients: Chop the nuts, chocolate, and dried fruit finely and evenly. This will ensure that they are evenly distributed throughout the truffles and provide a consistent texture.
  • Use high-quality chocolate: The quality of the chocolate you use will greatly impact the flavor of your truffles. Opt for a high-quality dark chocolate with a cocoa content of at least 70%.
  • Chill the mixture before rolling: Chilling the mixture for at least 30 minutes before rolling will make it easier to handle and prevent the truffles from becoming too soft.
  • Roll the truffles quickly: Once you have chilled the mixture, work quickly to roll the truffles. The warmth of your hands can soften the mixture and make it difficult to handle.
  • Coat the truffles evenly: When coating the truffles in cocoa powder, granulated sugar, or chopped nuts, make sure to roll them gently to ensure that they are evenly coated.
  • Chill the truffles before serving: After coating the truffles, chill them for at least 30 minutes before serving. This will help them to set and firm up.

Scottish truffles are a delightful and decadent treat that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are a perfect way to satisfy your sweet tooth or to impress your friends and family.
