Steps:
- 1. Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a medium saucepan. Add rice and curry powder; cook over low heat 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add chicken broth; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 13-15 minutes or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
- 2. Saute raisins, celery, green onions, and green pepper in 1 tablespoon melted butter in a small skillet until vegetables are tender. Add chutney and remaining ingredients; stir well.
- 3. Transfer rice to a serving dish; top with raisin mixture.
Tips:
- Use high-quality basmati rice. This type of rice is known for its long, slender grains and delicate flavor.
- Rinse the rice before cooking. This will help remove any starch and impurities from the rice, resulting in a fluffier, more flavorful dish.
- Use the right amount of water. The general rule of thumb is to use 1 1/2 cups of water for every cup of rice.
- Cook the rice over medium heat. This will help prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom of the pot and burning.
- Do not stir the rice while it is cooking. Stirring the rice will release starch and make it sticky.
- Let the rice rest for a few minutes before serving. This will allow the rice to absorb all of the flavors.
- Serve the rice with your favorite Indian dishes. Some popular options include chicken tikka masala, lamb korma, and vegetable biryani.
Conclusion:
Indian rice is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed with a variety of meals. By following the tips above, you can make perfect Indian rice every time.
