I found this on All Recipes site and quadrupled it for a large group of friends, plus I made my Stampede Beans(recipe #98459) to take to one of our annual muscle car shows. So easy to prepare and the taste was great. Everyone loved it as there wasn't a spoon full left!

Yield 8-10

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/3 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 1/2 tablespoons distilled white vinegar
2 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
8 cups finely chopped cabbage
1/4 cup grated carrots

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, salt, pepper, milk, mayonnaise, buttermilk, vinegar and lemon juice until smooth. Add cabbage and carrots and mix until blended with the dressing. Refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving.

Tips for Making Restaurant-Style Coleslaw:

  • Use a sharp knife or mandoline to thinly slice the cabbage and carrots. This will help the slaw to stay crisp and light.
  • If you don't have a mandoline, you can use a food processor fitted with the shredding blade. Just be careful not to over-process the vegetables, or they will become mushy.
  • Use a creamy mayonnaise-based dressing. This will help to bind the slaw together and give it a rich, flavorful taste.
  • Add a touch of sweetness to the dressing with sugar or honey. This will help to balance out the acidity of the vinegar.
  • Season the slaw with salt and pepper to taste. You can also add other spices, such as celery seeds, caraway seeds, or dill weed, if desired.
  • Let the slaw chill for at least 30 minutes before serving. This will allow the flavors to meld and the slaw to become more crisp.
  • Serve the slaw as a side dish with fried chicken, hamburgers, or hot dogs. You can also use it as a topping for tacos or sandwiches.

Conclusion:

Restaurant-style coleslaw is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed in many different ways. With its creamy, flavorful dressing and crisp, light texture, it's sure to be a hit at your next gathering. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy side dish, give this recipe a try.
