HOUSTON'S RESTAURANT COPYCAT VEGGIE BURGERS

Houston's Restaurant Copycat Veggie Burgers image

This is a recipe I am slowly trying to clone. So far, this is the closest I've come. I'm not so sure Houston's uses an egg white, but I added one to help bind the mixture together. Also, the cheese is optional. Houston's definitely grills their buns in butter, so that's probably another reason why their burgers are so good. If you try this and have any tips for me, please let me know. Thanks!! P.S. Thanks for the reviews. I don't have premium (yet) and can't email you all thank yous, but I'm reading the reviews and appreciate the input.

Time 30m

Yield 4 burgers, 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 16

4 tablespoons hickory barbecue sauce
1 tablespoon molasses
1 (15 ounce) can black beans, drained
2 cups cooked brown rice
1 tablespoon oat bran
2 tablespoons onions, finely chopped
1 tablespoon finely chopped canned beets
1 teaspoon beet juice
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 tablespoon pickled jalapeno pepper, chopped
1 egg white, add more if needed (to bind)
2 teaspoons olive oil
4 slices monterey jack cheese (optional)

Steps:

  • Stir together barbecue sauce and molasses. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, mash beans. Stir in 3 tablespoons of the barbecue mixture (reserving remaining for brushing) and remaining ingredients -- rice through egg white. Form into four 6 oz patties.
  • Heat olive oil in a cast iron or non-stick skillet over medium. Grill burgers for 2 minutes on one side. Turn and brush with remaining barbecue/molasses mixture. Top with Monterey Jack and grill for another 2 minutes or until cheese is melted.

CHILI QUESO REAL COPYCAT CHILI'S RESTAURANT VERSION BYTODD WILBU

Chili Queso Real Copycat Chili's Restaurant Version ByTodd Wilbu image

This is from the copy cat Top Secret Recipes 2 by Todd Wilbur. I read the other recipes and tried them and they do not compare to this recipe. One was missing a key ingredient for texture- milk and others did not have the spices in proportion. This one tastes like Chili's Restaurant. Use the Hormel chili as it is part of the flavor equation. Serve hot with chips. I used scoops corn and flour triangles.Enjoy! Chef DLH From www.TopSecretRecipes.com

Time 30m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

16 ounces Velveeta cheese
1 (15 ounce) can hormel chili (no-bean chili, not Chunky)
1 cup milk (I used whole)
4 teaspoons chili powder
2 teaspoons paprika
1 tablespoon lime juice
1/2 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

Steps:

  • Cut the Velveeta into cubes.
  • Combine the cheese with the remaining ingredients in medium sauce pan over medium heat.
  • Stir frequently until cheese melts then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Serve with hot tortilla chips for dipping.

Tips:

  • Mise en Place: Before you start cooking, ensure that all your ingredients are measured, chopped, and prepped. This will make the cooking process smoother and faster.
  • Follow the Recipe: While it's tempting to make substitutions or alterations, it's best to follow the recipe as written, especially if you're making it for the first time. This will ensure that the dish turns out as intended.
  • Use Fresh Ingredients: Whenever possible, use fresh ingredients for the best flavor and texture. Fresh vegetables, herbs, and spices will make a big difference in the final dish.
  • Don't Overcook: Be careful not to overcook your food. Overcooked food is tough, dry, and less flavorful. Cook meats to the proper internal temperature and vegetables until they are tender-crisp.
  • Taste and Adjust: As you cook, taste the food and adjust the seasonings as needed. A little salt, pepper, or herbs can go a long way in enhancing the flavor.

Conclusion:

With careful planning, attention to detail, and a bit of practice, you can easily recreate your favorite restaurant dishes at home. These copycat recipes offer a delicious and cost-effective way to enjoy restaurant-quality meals in the comfort of your own home. So gather your ingredients, put on your apron, and get ready to tantalize your taste buds with these delectable dishes. Happy cooking!
