Homemade Sweet & Spicy Pepper Relish Cheese Spread, with its spicy jalapeno peppers, sweet syrup and cream cheese base, will be a crowd pleaser.

3 bell peppers, color of your choice, seeded and diced fine (1-1 1/2 cups)
6-8 jalapeno peppers, seeded and diced fine (1-1 1/2 cups)
1/3 cup salt
2 cups warm water
1 Tablespoon garlic powder
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
8 oz cream cheese
crackers, salami, toasted baguette rounds

Steps:

  • Mix warm water, salt, and garlic powder until salt is mostly dissolved to make brine. Pour brine over diced peppers. Let sit 10-30 minutes (depending on how much time you have).
  • Pour brine off peppers and rinse well (2-3 time) using cold water and squeeze to remove excess water. Set aside.
  • In a medium sauce pan add sugar and vinegar. Bring to a boil and boil for 5-8 minutes until mixture begins to thicken like a syrup.
  • Remove from heat and add drained peppers. Stir. Let cool and store in refrigerator until ready to serve.
  • Warm cream cheese in oven (300 degrees for 8-10 minute to soften. Place on serving dish. You may also serve cheese at room temperature).
  • Carefully spoon pepper relish to top of cream cheese.
  • Serve with crackers, salami or toasted baguette rounds.

1 jalapeno, stemmed and seeded
12 ounces fresh cranberries
1 cup sugar
2 scallions, finely chopped
1 teaspoon finely grated orange zest
Kosher salt
16 ounces cream cheese, softened
8 ounces shredded Mexican cheese blend
1 teaspoon finely grated lime zest
Kosher salt
2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh cilantro
Crackers or toasted bread, for serving

Steps:

  • For the cranberry relish: Pulse the jalapeno in a food processor until finely chopped. Add the cranberries; pulse until finely chopped (but not ground). Transfer to a bowl and stir in the sugar, scallions, orange zest and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  • For the cream cheese log: In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese, shredded cheese, lime zest and 1/4 teaspoon salt with a wooden spoon or spatula until well blended. Mix in the cilantro. Spoon onto a large piece of plastic wrap and form into an even 1-inch-diameter log. Refrigerate until firm, at least 2 hours or overnight.

1 tablespoon olive oil (amount approximate)
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup snipped fresh chives (optional; amount to taste)

Steps:

  • Note- If using salted butter, lower amount of salt used or omit.
  • Preheat oven to 325°F.
  • Cut off top third of garlic head without peeling away papery skin.
