BALSAMIC VINEGAR AND RED WINE REDUCTION

Balsamic Vinegar and Red Wine Reduction image

This is a great sauce to drizzle over just about anything. I like it particularly with grilled veggies and with tomato/mozzarella salad. Neither the vinegar nor the wine need to be the best quality, yet the reduction will take on a nice quality flavor.

Tips:

  • Choose a good quality red wine vinegar: The quality of the vinegar will greatly affect the flavor of the reduction. Look for a vinegar that is made from 100% red wine and that has a good balance of acidity and sweetness.
  • Reduce the vinegar slowly: Don't rush the reduction process. Simmer the vinegar over low heat until it has reduced by about half. This will allow the flavors to develop and concentrate.
  • Add flavorings: You can add a variety of flavorings to the reduction, such as herbs, spices, shallots, garlic, and honey. Experiment with different combinations to find your favorite flavor profile.
  • Use the reduction as a sauce or glaze: Red wine vinegar reduction can be used as a sauce for grilled meats, fish, or vegetables. It can also be used as a glaze for roasted meats or poultry.

Conclusion:

Red wine vinegar reduction is a versatile ingredient that can be used to add flavor and depth to a variety of dishes. It is easy to make and can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Experiment with different flavorings to create your own unique red wine vinegar reduction.
