RUDOLPH THE RED NOSED REINDEER COOKIES

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Cookies image

Very CUTE little cookies that will bring a smile to the little ones faces! Great little cookies to send to school on "Christmas Party" day! You will be the hit of the classroom! (hint: you can use icing bag with piping tip, and a frosting that dries hard to stick on the eyes and nose, I use a stiff buttercream frosting colored the color of the eyes and nose, it works faster for me than the melted chocolate). I just LOVE all the cute photos and different ideas for this recipe!

Steps:

  • 1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.
  • 2. Add Kellogg's® Rice Krispies® cereal. Stir until well coated.
  • 3. Using buttered spatula or wax paper, evenly press mixture into 15 x 10 x 1-inch pan coated with cooking spray. Cool. Using cookie cutters coated with cooking spray cut twelve 2 1/2-inch circles and twelve 1 1/2-inch circles. Frost the tops of the 1 1/2-inch circles.
  • 4. For each reindeer use frosting to attach one 1 1/2-inch circle, frosting side up, to each 2 1/2-inch circle. Use scraps of the cereal mixture to shape into twenty-four ears. Use frosting to attach ears to each reindeer. Break pretzel twists into pieces. Push two pretzel pieces into each for antlers. Decorate with frosting and gum drops. Best if served the same day.
  • MICROWAVE DIRECTIONS:
  • In microwave-safe bowl heat butter and marshmallows on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth. Follow steps 2 through 4 above. Microwave cooking times may vary.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality chocolate: The chocolate you use will make a big difference in the taste of your reindeer. Use a good-quality semisweet or bittersweet chocolate that contains at least 70% cacao.
  • Temper your chocolate: Tempering chocolate is a process that helps to stabilize the chocolate and make it less likely to seize. This will result in a smoother, shinier finish on your reindeer.
  • Use a variety of toppings: The possibilities are endless when it comes to decorating your reindeer. You can use sprinkles, mini candy canes, chopped nuts, or even edible glitter. Get creative and have fun!
  • Make your reindeer ahead of time: These reindeer can be made up to 2 days ahead of time. This makes them a great option for holiday parties or gifts.
