Time 50m

Yield 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

4 lbs apples
1 cup water
2 cups sugar
1/3 cup red cinnamon candies
3 -5 drops red food coloring

Steps:

  • Make syrup, with the water, sugar, cinnamon candies and red food coloring.
  • Pare and core apples (Rome works for me, but can use whatever you prefer).
  • Slice into 1/2 inch rings.
  • Cook apple rings covered in syrup until tender.

Tips:

  • Use Granny Smith apples. They hold their shape well when cooked and have a tart flavor that complements the cinnamon and sugar.
  • Slice the apples thinly. This will help them cook evenly and prevent them from becoming mushy.
  • Coat the apple rings in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar. This will give them a delicious flavor and help them crisp up in the oven.
  • Bake the apple rings at a low temperature. This will help them dry out and become crispy without burning.
  • Watch the apple rings closely while they are baking. They can burn easily, so it's important to remove them from the oven as soon as they are golden brown.
  • Serve the apple rings warm. They are also delicious served cold, but they are at their best when they are still warm and crispy.

Conclusion:

Red cinnamon apple rings are a delicious and easy-to-make snack or dessert. They are perfect for fall, when apples are in season.
