Number Of Ingredients 9

2 quarts water
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup half-and-half
1/3 cup sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
2 teaspoons whole cloves
2 teaspoons cardamom seeds
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Bring the water to a boil, then reduce it to a simmer. Add the milk, half-and-half, sugar, and cinnamon, and simmer for 15 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients and simmer an additional 30 minutes. Strain and serve hot or cold.
