Steps:
- 1. Peel the yams, then cut into 1/2 inch slices. 2. Place the slices in a large pot with enough water to cover by an inch or so, and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium, then gently boil for 15 minutes, or until the yams are tender but firm. 3. Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples. In a 9?inch round casserole dish, alternate layers of yams, apples, brown sugar, and chunks of butter until all the ingredients are used up. 4. Bake uncovered in a preheated 375°F oven for 45 minutes, or until the yams and apples are tender. Serve hot.
