Whole Wheat Peanut Butter Bars image

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 1/4 cups unbleached flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 egg
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup butter
2 cups whole oats
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup milk
8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • cream together butter, sugars, vanilla, egg, baking soda, baking powder, milk and salt.
  • Add flours and oats and mix thouroughly. Dough will be stiff.
  • Push into pyrex baking dish and bake at 350 for 15 minutes.
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips across top and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  • Remove from oven. Spread hot chocolate chips across bars. Cut into squares and refrigderate until chocolate hardens.
