WHOLE WHEAT CURRANT OR RAISIN BREAD image

Yield 1 loaf

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 1/4 cup whole wheat flour
2/3 cup all-purpose, white flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sugar
1 beaten egg
1 tablespoon white vinegar OR lemon juice into a measuring cup, then fill remainder of cup with cow's milk
1/4 to 1/2 cup raisins OR currants.

Steps:

  • Mix dry ingredients, then add beaten egg and your "buttermilk" mixture. Mix well. Pour into a well greased and floured, standard bread pan and bake at 350 degrees F for 30 to 40 minutes, or until middle is mounded and a toothpick (or butter knife) comes out clean.
